Terms of use

Last updated: 2026-05-18.

By using honkping you agree to the rules below. They are written in plain language because the site is operated by one person, not a legal department.

Acceptable use

Moderation

Submissions pass through automatic filters (language detection, PII pattern matching, link stripping, Cloudflare Turnstile) and then through human review within 24 hours. Any visitor can report a message; three independent reports auto-hide it pending a re-review.

We do not pre-screen for opinion or sentiment. We screen for the rules above. A message can be critical, mocking, grateful, or neutral โ€” what it cannot be is rule-breaking.

Content ownership

You keep the copyright on anything you post. By posting, you grant honkping a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host the message, display it on the relevant plate page, syndicate it via search engines, and include it in the public sitemap. We do not relicense your content to third parties.

Owner claims

Anyone can claim a plate as its owner by completing email verification. Claiming does not delete or hide existing messages โ€” it only gives the verified owner reply tools and the ability to receive direct messages. Claims are self-declared; honkping does not verify ownership against any external registry.

Takedowns

If a message names you, contains your personal data, or was posted in bad faith, email oleksiy@goncharov.org with the URL and a one-line description. We do not require ID. We respond within seven days; urgent safety-related takedowns are typically within 24 hours.

Disclaimer

honkping is provided as-is. The site is best-effort, on a single small server. We do not guarantee uptime, search ranking, or response times. We are not liable for harm arising from messages posted by third parties.

Jurisdiction

This site is operated from Ukraine. Disputes are governed by Ukrainian law, with the proviso that local consumer-protection laws of the visitor's residence apply where mandatory.

Changes

We can update these terms. Material changes are dated at the top of the page. Continued use after a change means you accept the new version.
